MRT Bukit Bintang

Architect : Veritas Architects Sdn Bhd
Project Period : June 2015 – July 2017
Contract Value : RM46,000,000.00

Can-I was awarded a RM46 million interior building contract for the construction of the entrance and interior fit out of the Bukit Bintang station located at the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle commercial district - the Bukit Bintang (“starhill”) shopping hub. Situated beneath Jalan Bukit Bintang, the station is unique from all others in that it has 5 entrances along the iconic intersection of Jalan Bukit Bintang and Jalan Sultan Ismail, giving commuters access to several malls in the vicinity.

Located in an area with limited space and high traffic required an ingenious solution to avoid demolishing buildings in the “starhill” hub. As a result, the Bukit Bintang MRT station was built 28m underground, with the longest escalator along the SBK route, measuring 20m in length, to access the station below.

Despite the challenges, our second underground project at a plunge seven stories below, was successfully completed with vivid colours and detail. Along with fellow contractors who worked tirelessly, Can-I is proud to have played a role in bringing this iconic project to life.
