Shangri-La Hambantota
Resort & Spa, Sri Lanka

Architect : TID International Pte Ltd & HBA
Project Period : July 2014 – April 2016
Contract Value: USD8,000,000.00

One of our most prestigious projects’ overseas, Shangri-La at Hambantota in the South of Sri Lanka is the epitome of luxury interior fit outs. Native to Sri Lanka, the use of teak wood throughtout the grounds create a warm, welcoming feel while guests get lost in the heart of beautiful Sri Lanka and everything it has to offer.

Under the watchful eye of interior design consultants, TID International Pte Ltd for the public areas and HBA for the guest rooms, the team rose up to the challenge and sourced for materials to flawlessly bring their design to life.

The team was also excited to indulge in the local Sri Lankan culture while they worked alongside local contractors and even mingled with the local villagers. One of the highlights of this particular project was the sourcing of local handicraft to use in the interior fit-outs. The Watakeya weave, traditionally done by village handloomers was used for the TV panels in all the guest bedrooms. The rich legacy of the country’s culture is captured in the weaving which is infused in the room design creating a complete and all round Sri Lankan experience for guests to the Shangri-La, thanks to the resourceful of our team!

This projects solidified the team’s capability of creatively sourcing for materials to save on cost and time while striving to be eco-friendly where possible. In the end, the final product was beyond anyone’s expectations.
